Distribution: Central Canada south to Florida and Cuba, and through all but the Pacific Coast states, continuing through much of Mexico to Central America. Most common in the central plains of North America
Habitat: It occurs in both wet and dry soils in prairies and open woods, gravel bars and stream banks
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Herbaceous Perennial
Usage: Best in mixed borders. Are effective in masses, small groups or as singles. Tolerant of wet soils.
